Brand New Book
Formed in late 1943, the Luftwaffe Ground Attack Unit NSG 9 flew hazardous, pin-point night bombing missions in Italy during the Second World War. Rushed into action against the Anzio beach head with a handful of Fiat CR42 biplanes, the squadron re-equipped with Ju87s and, later, Fw190s but still suffered heavy losses, mainly at the hands of RAF Beaufighters.
This book is based on interviews and correspondence with many former veterans of NSG 9, and the history of the unit is told in the words of the men who fought on both sides in the night skies over Italy.
This large hardback is illustrated throughout with lots of black and white photographs, and 14 pages of colour drawings showing the specific aircraft themselves, and their camouflage, unit markings and insignia.
