Frome Place-Names, Their Origin and Meaning, by Michael McGarvie
Book published by the Frome Society for Local Study in 2003, 38 pages. Booklet - c. 17cm by 24cm (N5178)
This booklet is a fascinating history of the origin of place names in the Somerset town of Frome. Situated at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills, the town lies on the River Frome around 15 miles south of Bath, and during the medieval period was a major commercial centre for the wollen and cloth industries, and this booklet traces the history of some of the names found in the town - including street names, the names of local areas, and more!
Condition of the booklet is very good. Their are one or two minor scuffs to the covers, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. Please note there is a small price sticker on the rear side cover
