From the rear side cover: This is the second in a trio of volumes dealing with the early independent bus and coach operators in the Thames valley region, drawing on over 50 years of detailed research. Each tells the story of enterprises of varying sizes, from one-man outfits of limited duration to those that would become larger and more enduring concerns, often from the personal recollections of those who were there, but can no longer be consulted. This volume covers the area including the settlements of Bracknell, Crowthorne and Wokingham, at a time when these were small rural towns and villages, along with the various other smaller settlements, with the transport links serving that area. The 112 pages are fully illustrated with mostly unpublished photos and other items, gleaned over the years, whilst the text offers a blend of Local, Social and Transport History, presented here for posterity.

The operators covered include Vimmy Bus Service, Brimblecombe's Coaches, Crimson Rambler Coaches, Beta Bus Service, Gough's Garage Bus Service, Herring's Coaches, Hodge's Coaches, Wellington Hotel Bus, White Bus Services, Tuck & West Bros, Cody Bus Service/Cody Coaches, Reindeer Bus Service, Thackray's Way, Costessey Coaches, Direct Bus Service, Lovick's Motors, Marlow & District, Sonning & Woodley Bus Service, Progressive Bus Service, Slough & District, White's Coaches, and more!
