Dunbar - A Kirk Chronicle, by R.J.M. Pugh
Booklet published privately by the author in 2013, 30 pages. A5 size booklet (N6167)
Dunbar is a small Scottish town in East Lothian, and lies on the coast around 25 miles east of Edinburgh, and this short booklet provides a fascinating (albeit brief) history of some aspects of the town's religious history.
From the introduction: This booklet..... is concerned with the history of Dunbar Parish Church between the twelfth and twentieth centuries, including its status as a pre Reformation Collegiate Church between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. It also includes actual cases of Kirk discipline, poor relief, burial and the measures taken to prevent unlawful exhumation of corpses by resurrectionists in the nineteenth century. Some gravestones of prominent military and naval residents in Dunbar are also described.
The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs but is clean and bright, the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover
