Devon's Brunel Journey, by - A Personal Voyage of Discovery on the South Devon Railway
Book published by Devon County Council in 2006, 68 pages. Paperback (N6567PE)
From the introduction: This booklet is an invitation to explore Devon's railway heritage and sites linked to Isambard Kingdom Brunei, the man who brought the modern railway to Devon, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth. Beginning with an extract from Henry Besley's Route Book of Devon (c.1850), subtitled "a guide for the stranger and tourist to the towns, watering places and other interesting localities of this county", the booklet includes an account of a trip on the newly constructed South Devon Railway. The second half of the booklet describes aspects of Devon's railway heritage and suggests places to visit. You can build up your own record of your Brunei journey by collecting the stickers to complete the book when you visit the locations described and present your copy of this book.
This book has all the stickers fixed onto the correct pages, and the book is illustrated throughout with lots of colour and black and white photographs and drawings.
The condition of the book is generally very good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs but is clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price crossed out and a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
