This book provides a fascinating account of the castles in Gwent, Glamorgan and Gower, and is illustrated throughout with lots of small black and white photographs, maps and floor plans.
From the rear side cover: This book is a comprehensive guide to the history and architecture of over seventy castles and fortified houses dating from the late 11th century to the 16th century in Gwent (or Monmouthshire), Glamorgan and Gower. Following an introduction describing the development of fortified buildings in these areas are three gazetteers illustrated with many plans and photographs. Lists at the end of each section give summary information on about sixty other sites, including numerous motte and bailey or ringwork castles which only ever had earth and timber defences. The gazetteer entries also describe medieval town defences
The condition of the book is generally excellent. The covers are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is an old price printed and small price sticker on the rear side cover.
