British Steam in Australia - A Centennial Review, by Dr John Davies

Published by the British Overseas Railways Journal in 1988/89, 26 pages. A4 Size Booklet (N4757P1)

This fascinating booklet provides an account of the locomotives that operated in Australia in the late 1880's. Contents include:

  • Introduction
  • Victorian Railways - 5ft 3 in Gauge
  • New South Wales - Standard Gauge
  • South Australia - 5ft 3 in Gauge, and 3ft 6 in Gauge
  • Queensland - 3ft 6 in Gauge
  • Tasmania and the West - 3ft 6 in Gauge (Tasmania), and Western Australia Gauge
  • Summary

The booklet is illustrated throughout with lots of black and white photographs (although the quality of the photo's isn't particularly good)

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. Their is an old price printed on the front cover, and a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

Please note this booklet was published privately, and so lacks the finish of a more proffesional publication (i.e. all photographs are of photocopy quality). But this in now way detracts from its fascinating contents!
