Betley during the Second World War, by David Thompson, subtitled 'The organisation of the Air raid Wardens, Firewatchers, and First-Aiders in Betlety, Balterley and Wrinehill 1939-41'
Booklet published by the Betley Local History Society in 2003, 28 pages. A4 size booklet with ring binding (N3858P1)
This booklet provides a fascinating insight into the social history of the Staffordshire villages of Betley, Balterley and Wrinehill during the Second World War, and concentrates on the organisation and activities of Air Raid Protection and First Aid. Much of the information is drawn from a detailed log book covering the period from 1939 to 1941, and the booklet includes several black and white photographs
Please note the booklet was published privately by the local history society, and so lacks the glossy finish of a professional publication. However, this in no way detracts from the fascinating contents, nor its value to anyone interested in the local history of the villages, as well as people with a more general interest in the area during the Second World War
Condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover is clean and bright, the ring binding is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
