From the rear side cover: This book takes a tour around many of the narrow gauge railways in Austria whilst they were still being used as part of the local transport system. Most of the photographs depict the lines as they were some forty to fifty years ago and capture, with some nostalgia, their friendly nature just before their decline. Luckily many of the lines have been preserved or continue to flourish following modernisation but the era depicted in this book has been lost and can only be remembered through photographs.
