The Irish town of Arklow (situated in County Wicklow on the east coast of ireland) has a long and proud seafaring tradition. Many local families have been involved in maritime businesses and it was in 1966 that the Hall and Tyrrell families joined to form Arklow Shipping. Since then, the green hulls of the company's ships have ebcome a familiar sight in ports throughout Europe and, since the introduction of larger vessels, they have been seen even more widely.
