The author was born in Ordsall, which is now an area of the Nottinghamshire market town of Retford,and in this booklet he writes about his experiences growing up in the town during the Second World War.

Illustrated throughout with eight pages of plate black and white photographs, his account offers a fascinating insight into what life was like in the town during the conflict, and he writes about air raids and the ARP, evacuees, the Retford Spitfire, Home Guard parades, and even an aircraft coming down at Babworth, south of the Botany Bay signal box, as well as much more!

The condition of the booklet is generally excellent. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs but is clean and bright, the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound
