From the introduction: ADX 1 is an iconic vehicle in the bus preservation world. Ipswich's first motorbus marked the transition from electrical power to diesel propulsion for the town's bus fleet, and was a regular sight in the town for over twenty years. The fledgling Ipswich Transport Museum recognised the significance of the vehicle and ADX 1 and sister ADX 2 were preserved. The other four buses new in 1950 were also bought and sold on as sheds! During the 1970s ADX 2 was seen on the rally circuit while ADX 1 led a nomadic existence, often being stored in the open. Resuscitation came in time for the 1980 '100 Years of Public Transport in Ipswich' celebrations, and ADX 1 was restored to former its former glory at Priory Heath depot. Remarkably ADX 1 's 40th birthday in 1990 was accompanied by a return to occasional PSV service, and from 1991 the vehicle was on regular display at the new Ipswich Transport Museum. The bus remained available for PSV use for most of the 1990s and was last used as such for its 50th birthday in 2000. The vehicle was taken off the road in 2004, for a well earned rest...
