William Bourne was an Elizabethan mathematician and former Royal Navy gunner, and in the early 1570's he wrote an artillery manual entitled 'The Art of Shooting in Great Ordnance'. This booklet provides a fascinating (albeit brief) account of that work and its contents, and is thus an invaluable short guide to the history and development of artillery weapons.
The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has one or two minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.
