A Ghost of a General and the R.M. Officer Corps of 1914, by D.F. Bittner

Booklet privately published by Royal Marines Historical Society in 1984. 64 pages. A5 size booklet (N5079P1)

This booklet provides a fascianting and detailed account of the structure and organisation of the Royal Marines Officer Corps in 1914, and is split into two parts. The first part of the booklet is titled 'Royal Marine General Officers and the Promotion Crisis of the pre World War 1 era', whilst the second part of the booklet is titled 'The Royal Marine Officer Corps of 1914 - The Personnel'. This second part includes sections on the generals, career sidelights, detached officers WW1 service, First World War service, Royal Marines in the Air, and other RM specialists.

The condition of the booklet is generally good. The cover has some minor scuffs and blemishes, and some light wear along the edges and corners, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

Please note the booklet was produced and published privately, and so has an 'amateur' feel about - i.e all the photographs are photocopy quality. But this doesn't detract from the fascinating contents!
