2C Squadron, August-November 1940
Published privately by the RAF Recruit Centre in 1940, 16 pages. Large booklet - c.19cm by 24cm (S7268WSO)
This booklet provides an account of the men who trained at the Royal Air Force No. 10 Recruit Centre between August and November 1940, during the Second World War. The Recruit Centre (RC) was based in Blackpool in Lancashire, and was at the time commanded by Squadron Leader W.H. Jones (who went on to become C/O at RAF Masirah after the war), and I believe it was a training centre for Signals.
The booklet includes an introduction by Pilot Officer Browning and a letter from one of the recruits who did his training there, before going on to provide a short account of each of the ten 'Squads' during the period. Each squad is given a single page, and contains a group photograph of the 50 men belonging to it, who are then then listed. A short note from the squad's NCO then finishes the page
The condition of the booklet is generally ok. The cover has several minor scuffs and blemishes, and some light nibbling and creasing along the edges and corners, and there is a deep crease running from top to bottom along the front cover (which extends through the inside booklet). But the staple spine is intact, and all pages are intact and unblemished. There is light foxing, yellowing and creasing to the inside pages throughout.
